The box is made of microcellular cardboard. A paper sleeve with an exclusive illustration is wrapped around it. The poem "The Mischievous Crow" tells the story of how the symbol of Lisbon became a beloved mascot, a favorite tale among tavern owners worldwide. It is written in both Portuguese and English.
Ceramic crow or corvo malandro "O Corvo Malandro" is a representation of keen observation. Made of glazed earthenware and decorated according to tradition, it uses the manual technique of immersion and glass painting. This technique is enhanced by two claws cast in natural bronze. It is hand-cast in a sand mold. A purely decorative piece, elegant and splendid, that is the Corvo Malandro, crafted by ceramic artists.

In this workshop, even the technique reveals a story, and it begins in the early 19th century, specifically between 1820 and 1853, when a potter named Maria dos Cacos became the first in a long line of potters from Caldas da Rainha. Little information exists on the subject, but her pottery workshop produced bowls, vases, bottles, and toothpick holders, coated in green and honey-colored enameled glass with striations, which over time became popular and were sold at fairs throughout the country.
Today, with the closure of several factories in Caldas and an increasingly industrialized ceramic manufacturing process, this ancient technique is a story that threatens to be lost forever. It is in this attempt to preserve this knowledge that Laboratório d'Estórias (Ld'E) finds its purpose, recovering and valuing the painting techniques of the late 19th and early 20th centuries and the vast tradition of handcrafts unique to Caldas da Rainha; but, at the same time, without neglecting the possibility of drawing inspiration from other techniques, perhaps to tell other stories.
