The Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh is a great inspiration and a genius whose reason for cutting off his ear remains a mystery. Vincent van Gogh, a highly renowned artist, is a source of inspiration for transforming his art and characteristics into various objects that reflect his style and personality. With his unique personality, Van Gogh left an important legacy of works and distinctive features characteristic of his style.
Regarding his childhood, Vincent van Gogh commented: "My youth was sad, cold, and barren."
From a young age he displayed a difficult character and a strong temperament. After leaving school and spending a year in prison, van Gogh began working in 1869, at the age of 16, as an apprentice at Goupil & Co. (later Boussod & Valadon), a major international art-trading company in The Hague in which his uncle Vincent was a partner. He adapted quite well to this new life, even writing: "It's a wonderful business. The longer you work in it, the more ambitious you become."
In this porcelain mug inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, artist Jorge M. has used the iconic wound from his severed ear as a base. The artist has created an elegant and playful object with Van Gogh's signature touch in this Art series.
